In today's Gospel reading from Luke, Jesus says to his disciples: "I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division." You can really sense the great anguish he felt. He knew exactly that the people would be divided because of him and what he must undergo from this point on. I don't think there is any agony that could be greater. Let us remember and be forever thankful for his love for us.
