In today's Gospel reading from Matthew 23, Jesus said to the scribes and the Pharisees, "Woe to you, hypocrites. You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men's bones and every kind of filth. Even so, on the outside you appear righteous, but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing." These were harsh words! I thought of today's hypocritical and evil politicians. They don't appear beautiful on the outside at all. They absolutely show no joy, committing fraud and attacking anyone who disagrees with them. Compared to the scribes and the Pharisees, they are less smart and thus more pitiable.
