Today is the Memorial of Saint Monica. The First Reading consists of 1 Corinthians 1:1-9. Paul starts out: "Paul, called to be an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God... to you who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy, with all those everywhere who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ..." Right here, I realize that when the Lord God calls us to follow Christ Jesus, it is a sanctifying grace calling us to be holy, so that we may be saved forever! It truly is the highest calling of our whole life.
