Holy Communion is the body and blood of Christ himself in the form of bread and wine. It is a sacrament instituted by Christ himself at the Last Supper and the center of worship at Mass. Catholics are not to receive it if they are not in a state of grace. It is the greatest gift God has given us, the Lord himself. Without it, we won't need priests and there won't be any Church. Read John 6. Whoever eats this bread of life will have eternal life.
You may not feel anything when you receive Holy Communion. It's believing that you are receiving the Lord himself that's important ~ again faith comes into play. Then again, the Lord may give you great joy as he pleases.
Why is it the wine is hardly ever taken by the congregation though.Surely it's important too right?
It must be wonderful.I can say, even as someone who doesn't know where he really is in this world. Even as a Quasi-Atheist, that i wish i could feel that. I mean it but i also can't pretend too feel it unless it's there or i believe it is.
Oh and what's your name, if you wanna tell it that is?
The wine is just as important, but the Church also teaches under each species alone, the whole Christ is sacramentally present and we still "receive all the fruit of Eucharistic grace." There have been many Eucharistic miracles. Some of the consecrated host that bled have been preserved in various parts of the world. I personally saw the one that bled in Bethania, Venezuela. Watch the video "The Holy Eucharist Is Our Lord" video in my list of Good Sites, Blogs, Web Pages...
I'd love to see a miracle but it seems most who do seem to be true believers and many who do are either alone or in a small group.( Oh, and i've heard about the miracle of the sun but that could have just been a weather phenomenon) It would be cool if someone with no affiliation could confirm what that blood is you saw...If Jesus came for the worst of us, like me, for example. Then why not come to me, even if i don't believe?
I just want to say sorry about my typos, grammatical and punctuation errors i've made..A few, i'm aware of when too late( much like my sins, past and present) But alot is due is due to my self-inflicted lack of education.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI asked this to someone else the other day. What does it feel like to take Communion?
I have done a the very distant past but never really felt anything. I guess because i never knew fully what it was all about.
