In today's Gospel reading from Matthew 5, Jesus said to his disciples: "I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven." Then he started teaching them by saying, "You have heard that it was said to your ancestors..." and took it a notch higher. In other words, we must not think that we are good enough, for the Lord wants us to be perfect! (And he deserves that.)
