There are people who show zero interest in knowing anything about Christ. It makes you think that faith might be a gift that God gives only to those he has first chosen. I don't know. If that were the case, I'd ask the Lord to choose everyone. What I know is how I came to choose Christ. I did not consider him until I felt the emptiness of life while I was attending college. I got to know some Christian friends who shared their faith enthusiastically with me. Eventually, I opened up and accepted Christ—that was the key moment! As I received more graces, my faith started to grow. This was affirmed by what Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 13: "To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich." In most cases, this growth goes on one's whole life. Then if you can abandon yourself to the Lord entirely, with the aid of the Holy Eucharist you can achieve union with him in a relatively short time. In conclusion, to have faith in God, we must open ourselves up to God to get started, and then by abandoning ourselves to him to keep the growth process going.
